ISS continues to offer a wealth of before- and after-school opportunities for success beyond the classroom, catering to theatrical, musical and artistic interests as well as political, tech and outdoor interests. All children should have opportunities and venues for learning new skills and strengthening others in a non-competitive environment with their classmates and friends. Primary, Middle and/or High School students enjoy school-sponsored field trips in and outside of Norway related to course subjects, service learning, outdoor education, language immersion, sports tournaments and music and theatre festivals. Student groups have gone to Athens, Brussels, Copenhagen, Florence, Frankfurt, Iceland, London, Luxembourg, Moscow, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Svalbard, Thailand and The Hague, just to name a few.

The ISS Parent Association provides a wide range of services and social activities for the school as well.
