Dear Parent and Students,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at ISS!

The teachers and staff are excited to have you as part of the ISS community.We hope that this year will be a challenging and successful year for every student.

Close co-operation between the school and home is essential to promote the best interests of the child. We have internal control systems in place to promote school community involvement as we are all responsible for promotion of positive health, environment and safety. One of the first steps that you can take to ensure that this year
is a positive experience is to read carefully through this handbook as a family and discuss the information included. If you need any further clarification on any item, please contact one of us here at the school. The Parent-Student Handbook puts into practice the polices of the ISS Board of Trustees, who adopt policies and by-laws available on request.

As the school year begins, we would also like to share with you what our expectations for students at ISS are. Our expectations are based around the question, “How can I respect myself, others and the environment?”

• We expect you will work to the best of your ability.
• We expect you will treat others with dignity, worth and respect.
• We expect that you will obey all the rules set forth by your teachers and the school.
• We expect that you will work to keep a positive relationship with parents, teachers and friends.
• We expect you to reach beyond your grasp and learn new things.
• We expect that you will represent your family and the school in an outstanding manner.
