At the International School of Stavanger, our international curriculum draws upon best practices from several national curricular models, including those in North America, United Kingdom, Australia and international curricula. It supports our core values of Learning, Well-being and Community.
Pre-School Programme (Three-Four Year Olds)
We base our practices and methodologies on the forward-thinking Reggio Emilia inspired approach to pre-school education, which is a way of observing children’s curiosities and interests and responding with ways that help them make connections and expand their academic and social potentials.
École Maternelle Programme (French Three-Five Year Olds)
ISS has an École Maternelle for French-speaking children (three-five year olds) that aligns with the new changes and features implemented in French schools worldwide in 2015.
Early Childhood Programme for Kindergarten – Grade 2 (Five-Seven/Eight Year Olds)
Using an international curriculum, benchmark and standards, Kindergarten-Grade 2 students experience a variety of subjects taught in English by a highly-qualified homeroom teacher and specialists.
We provide Dutch language and curriculum offerings both during the school day and after school for Dutch-speaking students. Taught by a qualified native Dutch teacher, the programme at ISS includes Dutch classes following the Dutch national curriculum (NTC) and NOB standards.
